As many of you know on 25 Feb 2021,  At a press conference, Electronics and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the basic essence of ‘The Information Technology (Guidelines for Intermediaries and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021’ is “soft-touch oversight” mechanism to deal with issues such as the persistent spread of fake news, abuse of these platforms to share morphed images of women and contents related to revenge porn or to settle corporate rivalries. – source (The Hindu)

Koo, is an Indian social networking site and microblogging service based in Banglore city, Karnataka. Earlier, Its name was Ku koo ku. March 2020, this app was created by Aprameya Radhakrishna, Mayank Bidawatka.

3. When Koo app was Launched? 

March 2020, it was first launched in only Kannada language. but now it supports multilanguage like (Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, and Marathi, etc.
Also, in August 2020, It won the “Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar” App Innovation Challenge.

4. Number of installs on Koo app?

Right now, Koo app has more than 5 million+ installs on the google play store. which is amazing in just 1 year Koo app has gained so many followers. Many famous personalities from politics, Bollywood of India having an account on the Koo app. According to the wiki.  Ravi Shankar Prasad ( Union Minister holding the Law and Justice, Electronics and Information Technology and Communications ) is the first minister who has more than 10 lakh followers on the app.

While the app was launched in early 2020, its participation and the subsequent winning of the government’s Atmanirbhar App Innovation Challenge brought it under the limelight. The app, along with other India-made apps like Zoho and Chingari — the local version of TikTok, won the challenge, which was launched by the Centre close on the heels of banning scores of apps with Chinese links citing national security concerns. Following the outcome of the Atmanirbhar App Innovation Challenge, the app was also mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Mann Ki Baat address.
